I tend to write with stories and have had a bit of frustration lately as nothing seems good enough to add to this website. Today I realized it's not about scrambling to write the perfect content, it's about sitting in the quiet and listening.
We are all so busy running from here to there, kids have perfectly calibrated schedules that tend to take up all 7 days of the week, every organization is vying for our time as volunteers of this and that, the car needs repairs, we need to visit our family, run to the grocery store, wash dishes and do laundry.....things never slow down and when they do, social media screams many mixed messages at us as we scroll mindlessly through the pages.
We need down time. Time to think, to pray, to breathe, to listen and to just be. Time without our phones, our children, our spouses and anything else that would distract us in the quiet.
It's in this place that we find strength for the day, peace during our struggles, answers to our prayers and an opportunity for our Heavenly Father to speak to our hearts.
If you do nothing else today, I want to encourage you to shut your entire world off for a few minutes and just sit in the quiet. It might be just the thing you need today.
