Good Evening Champions!!!
This is the gratitude challenge post for Wednesday, 7/17/2024. Because this is another active challenge I wanted to address the issue of time and the concerns some of you may have about how much time this challenge is going to take up.
This month is all about impact so it will require you to take action, which in turn may take more time than just the few minutes of reflection. I have a couple of ideas for you to help in this area:
1. Maybe this month for you is all about handwritten notes. Those only take a few minutes and would fit into the time slot I originally discussed. If this is where you are at, it’s totally ok! Remember the goal is growth, not condemnation. This challenge needs to work with your budget of money and of time and let’s face it, some seasons of life are busier than others.
2. You may need to schedule these things out later in your calendar to make it work and that’s ok. I would have spaced these out once or twice per week but this challenge would go on for over a year and that’s not feasible for most people. Write notes where you can and schedule things as you can. The beautiful thing about this challenge is that there is flexibility to make it work for you, no matter what your lifestyle, budget or schedule is like. So, tailor fit it to your life and let’s win together!
With that being said, today’s reflection is about your community. Find something you love about your community and choose a way to serve. It can be something small or something long-term, the terms of this are completely up to you. It can also be something you schedule a few weeks from now. Get creative with this and choose to do something that has meaning for you. If you have a family, I’d encourage you to get them involved and serve with you.
There are things that will cost money and other things that don’t. Some things that are low to no cost would be:
· Thanking our veterans for serving this great country and tell them how much you appreciate them
· Serve food at a food bank
· Help your local beautification committee
· Participate in a highway clean up
· Help walk dogs at the local pound
· Donate clothes/jackets to a women’s shelter
· Donate old sheets and blankets to the local pound
· Volunteer at an organization close to your heart
· Visit elderly at nursing homes or bring them flowers
· Visit children at your local children’s hospital
· Plan an event to support a cause you believe in (this would require donations)
There are so many things you can do, these are just a few to get the ideas flowing for you. Have fun with it and make it your own. If you have a family, get them involved and brainstorm ideas together. You’d be surprised at the difference you can make if you just put yourself out there.
I’m excited for this part of your journey! Log your feedback from what you decide to do and the impact it has on you. It is something you will want to remember!
I’m proud of you and I believe in you!
Let’s win together!
Blessings,
-J
